Whole 30 – Days 6-10 with meal plan

Bit later than expected with the second stint of Whole 30! We’ve been experiencing the phenomenon known as summer in Scotland, and as such I’ve been trying to enjoy it while it’s here and get outdoors, which generally means I’m a bit pooped at the end of the day. But, I have now listed the meal plan and published the recipes. Hurrah!

So, as you’d imagine, things have improved. The energy levels are definitely on the up, ‘digestion’ is good and I can feel my taste buds really starting to waken up. I thought an apple was just about the best thing I’d ever tasted earlier in the week! Must be what happens when no false sweet stuff is allowed 🙂

I did have my first craving for a nice cold, crisp glass of Pinot Grigio in the sunshine… Mmmm! Now that would be nice! Oh well, moving swiftly on…

I’m still having difficulty getting out of bed in the morning though, minor headaches are still lurking, and a bit strangely, my appetite has decreased. Those who know me will understand that that is a very odd occurrence! 🙂 I don’t feel like I’ve really lost any weight so far, which can feel a little disappointing but I’m not even 2 weeks in yet. I’ve been determined not to take any painkillers, as I know I take too many normally, and they’re coated in sugary things sometimes. So far, so good.

Over the weekend we used the BBQ a bit, and I tried out a couple of new recipes. I’m someone who can quickly get sick of eating the same things all the time (I know others are happy to eat routinely most of the time – each to their own!) so I try to mix it up. I think that may be true for other areas of my life too – variety is good for me.

The fella did slip, but I couldn’t blame him really and thought he was remarkably disciplined considering the circumstances – at Scotland’s biggest music festival, T in the Park, camping overnight. I sent him off with a few paleo picnic style foods, that hopefully wouldn’t perish too quickly in the heat, and he managed not to dive in to any of the greasy festival food even whilst watching his brother dig in to everything and anything he wanted. He did however succumb to two pints of cider. I think he did better than I would! Honestly, I’m just grateful that he comes along with me on these food journeys without too much complaint. He was really only ever in to the Whole 30  to support me…

Day 6

Breakfast – Sweet potato and mushroom hash, 2 fried eggs, half an avocado, baked gammon, apple.

Lunch – Mahoosive salad!

Dinner – Beef burger, sauteed mushrooms, iceberg lettuce, guacamole, salsa, carrots and peppers for dipping.

Day 7

Breakfast – Baked gammon, mushroom and spring onion 3 egg omelette, avocado, strawberries and blackberries.

Lunch – Beef burger, romain lettuce, guacamole, apple.

Afternoon sunshine beverage – Minted ginger lemonade

Dinner – Lamb kofte kebabs with coriander, grilled courgettes and peppers, sweet potato salad, avocado, home made mayo

Day 8

Breakfast – Scotch eggs, tomato, avocado, home made mayo

Lunch – Asian salmon fish cakes (these are a work in progress, consistency not quite right so will try again!)

Day 9

Breakfast – Leftover burger and roasted veg hash, apple.

Day 10

Breakfast – Baked gammon, mushroom and spring onion omelette, avocado, apple.

Lunch – Tuna mayonnaise salad with avocado

Dinner – Simple grilled chicken, salad, creamy avocado dressing

I feel like the sugar dragon has abated for now. Although I know it will return. And I guess I craving for wine could technically be called a sugar craving.
